Effects of Cancer Treatment on the Comfort of Children and Adolescents with Cancer: A Scoping Review

Objectives: To map and examine the scientific evidence concerning effects of cancer treatment on comfort children adolescents with cancer. Materials Methods: This scoping review was carried out in following electronic information resources: BVS, PubMed, Cinahl, SciVerse Scopus, Lilacs, Web Science, Google Scholar. Two independent reviewers analyzed studies’ relevance. Results: The search yielded 4,295 publications, which 20 comprised final sample. Following mapping, (20; 100 %) were found, most prevalent pain (12; 60 %), fear (9; 45 nausea (5; 25 difficulty eating (4; distress %). Regarding oncologic modality, antineoplastic therapy prevailed 11 (55 selected articles. Conclusions: Cancer affects cancer, causing suffering changing their well-being. It indicates need to evaluate its impact take nursing care measures reduce complications improve these patients’ adaptation treatment.
